Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Domain Dome — the firewall software you install on a
website, and the dashboard you manage it from.
They are deliberately short and deliberately blunt about the limits of what a firewall
can promise. We would rather you knew where you stand than be reassured by a page
neither of us would read.
1. Who these terms are with
Domain Dome, and you — the person or company holding the account.
If you manage sites for clients, you are responsible for having their permission to
install the firewall on their site and for what you configure it to do.
2. Free trial, plans and billing
Every account starts with a 30-day free trial. No payment card is needed to start
it. During the trial you can protect up to 3 sites — or fewer if the plan you chose
allows fewer; Solo and Non-profit trials cover 1 site.
Adding a card unlocks your plan's full site limits straight away. Nothing is charged
until the trial ends. When it ends, if a card is on file we bill the plan you chose —
monthly or yearly, as you selected. If no card is on file, you are not charged; your
account continues in a limited state until you choose a plan and add a card, and you
can export or delete your data at any time.
Prices and site limits are the ones shown on our pricing page when you subscribe.
If we change a price that applies to you, we will email you before it takes effect.
You can cancel at any time, from the dashboard or by writing to us. Your access
continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund partial
periods unless the law requires it.
Non-profits. Charities, churches and community organizations can use Domain Dome
free for the organization's own sites. Choose the Non-profit plan at signup, start the
trial, then send us your organization's details from the dashboard. If we approve the
application, we extend your licence at no charge and without interruption. The free
plan is for the organization's own sites, not for resale; an agency managing a
non-profit's site may apply on its behalf.
3. What the firewall does, and what it cannot do
Domain Dome inspects requests to your site and blocks ones matching known attack
patterns.
It will not stop every attack. No firewall does. It works from rules describing
attacks that are already understood; a novel attack, or a familiar one dressed
differently, can pass through. It cannot fix a vulnerability in your site's own code —
it can only make some attempts to exploit one harder.
It may occasionally block something legitimate. Rules that catch attacks also
sometimes catch unusual real traffic. This is why we recommend running in monitor mode
first, watching what would have been blocked, and switching to blocking once you are
satisfied.
It is not a substitute for keeping software updated, using strong passwords and
two-factor authentication, or taking backups.
4. It is designed to fail open
Worth stating in its own section, because it is a deliberate choice with a consequence
you should agree to knowingly.
The firewall runs inside your website. If it encounters an error, it gets out of the
way and lets the request through. It will not take your site down to protect it.
The trade-off: during a fault, requests are not being inspected. We consider a site
that is up and unprotected better than a site that is down — but it is your site, and
you should know which way we chose.
5. Your responsibilities
- Install it only on sites you own or are authorised to manage.
- Keep your account credentials secure. Two-factor authentication is available and we
recommend it. - Do not use it to attack, probe, or interfere with anyone else's systems.
- Where your plan includes it, you may present the block page under your own brand.
You may not resell Domain Dome itself as your own product without our written
agreement.
6. Your data
How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. Your
configuration and event history are yours. Ask and we will export them; ask and we
will delete them.
If you close your account, your data is erased 30 days afterwards.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the dashboard available and will tell you about planned interruptions.
We do not currently offer a service-level commitment.
Worth knowing: the firewall keeps protecting your site even when the dashboard is
unreachable. It caches its configuration locally and keeps enforcing it. What stops is
reporting and configuration changes, not protection.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from
your use of Domain Dome, including any security incident it did not prevent, or any
legitimate traffic it blocked.
The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind.
This does not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — death or personal
injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
9. Ending it
You may stop using Domain Dome whenever you like: deactivate the plugin, or ask us to
close your account.
We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, or if we discontinue the
service. Except for a serious breach, we will give reasonable notice and time to
export.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new
date, and we will email account holders.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
